- National Arboretum Canberra
- There are multiple locations for a sunrise/sunset view at the National Arboretum Canberra. Pack a picnic or soak in the tranquillity with a good book. The Arboretum is a treat for visitors, with beautiful views and lush green lawns. Many of the hills surrounding the main building provide panoramic views over Lake Burley Griffin, Telstra Tower and Canberra’s unique bush landscape.
- Mount Ainslie or Red Hill Lookout
- Mount Ainslie Lookout and Red Hill Lookout are located at a sufficient height to provide you a great view of Canberra along with a spectacular view at both sunrise and sunset. Hike to the top of Red Hill to view stellar views from every angle. You also have the option to enjoy the view from your car near the lake or take a walk along the footpath circling the summit.
- Gibraltar Peak
- Gibraltar Peak offers up lush forest terrain that will engulf you in Canberra’s nature. The national park has some challenging walking trails that will leave you feeling a sense of achievement. That calls for a reward of a beautiful sunrise or sunset treat. Since the trails vary from being moderate to hard, it is important to ensure that you are prepared ahead of your visit.
- Black Mountain Peninsula
- Located adjacent to one of the most popular spots aside Lake Burley Griffin, Black Mountain Peninsula offers up beautiful lake side sunset and sunrise opportunities. With a range of activities located around the lake including boating, swimming, paddling and a great play space for the kids, a sunset by Lake Burley Griffin is something every Canberran or visitor should experience.
- Mount Taylor Nature Reserve
- A walk to the top of Mount Taylor will easily give you some of the best panoramic views of south Canberra and the Brindabella ranges. The reserve supports a diverse woodland with endangered Yellow Box woodlands, native flora and wildlife. Two popular trails, the ZigZag and Summit Walking trails, are undergoing upgrade works that will offer a better visitor experience at Mount Taylor in 2022.
