4WDing

To protect our precious parks and reserves, only limited areas of public land in the ACT are open to four-wheel driving. In suitable locations, such as some forest plantations, four-wheel driving is allowed only on established roads, and on formed management trails that are open to the public.

Off-road driving is not permitted – for any vehicles, including trailbikes.

A road or formed management trail may be closed by a locked gate, sign or barrier. Some roads and formed management trails in parks may be closed temporarily or seasonally. You must not attempt to venture onto any closed road or fire trail using your vehicle – doing so is an offence and penalties apply.

Remember, you must be appropriately licensed and your vehicle must be registered.
