Planned Park Closures: Thermal Assisted Aerial Control (TAAC) Program

The ACT Parks and Conservation Service will carry out its annual Thermal Assisted Aerial Control (TAAC) program from Thursday 8 May to Friday 30 May 2025. This operation targets vertebrate pest species in key conservation areas, water catchments, and some semi-urban locations across the ACT. Park and reserve closures will be in place during this period for public safety.

Weston Park

A large recreational urban park in central Canberra

Weston Park is a popular 40 hectare area in the heart of Canberra.

It features a wading pool (in summer only), beach, miniature train and cycle track. Other facilities include a playground with climbing net and swings, adventure playground, disc golf, miniature train, and a fixed orienteering course.

A multi-purpose gravel platform and public boulodrome measures 54 metres by 18 metres with 13 petanque pistes and 10 bocce courts. It is the home ground for the Capital Petanque Club and the Bocce Club of ACT/Queanbeyan.

Dogs are welcome on-leash as outlined on the dog exercise area map and are prohibited within 10 metres of a public play space, fireplace or barbecue in use.
