Margaret Timpson Town Park is a one hectare area located in the heart of Belconnen Town Centre. The park is a popular place to walk through or picnic. It can be used for large gatherings of people.

Its formal design includes pergolas with climbing plants, Canary Island date palms (not commonly planted in Canberra) and the ‘Tumbling Cubes’ sculpture by Bert Flugelman. The park was named after Margaret Timpson, who was an influential identity in the women’s movement.

Public toilets are available at the nearby Belconnen Public Library.

Dogs are welcome on-leash as outlined on the dog exercise area map and are prohibited within 10 metres of a public play space, fireplace or barbecue in use.

Margaret Timpson Town Park is located on Ngunnawal Country, an ancient and diverse landscape managed by Ngunnawal people for tens of thousands of years.

For time immemorial Ngunnawal people have maintained a tangible and intangible cultural, social, environmental, spiritual, and economic connection to these lands and waters.

European heritage

Margaret Timpson's name has been associated with the contemporary women's movement in Australia for many years. Prior to her death in 1993, she was a statistician with the Australian Bureau of Statistics, which is located near the park bearing her name.

The park was officially named on 10 March 1994.

The central path is aligned with the Benjamin Way entrance of Belconnen Mall and provides the key link between the Belconnen ridge of Chandler Street and developments at the lower level.
