Mount Painter - Summit track upgrades

Essential upgrades and realignment work is underway on the Mount Painter Summit Track.

Project goals and details

Works will include:

• Minor realignments to improve function and experience
• Removal of bitumen walking surface
• Retention of rock from existing steps for re-use in other reserves
• Installation of new steps and rock armouring to increase resilience and improve user experience
• Enhancement of lookout areas
• Rehabilitation of track sections made redundant.

The Summit Track will be closed to the public while the work takes place, with warning and advisory signage in place for the duration of works. The Lower Lookout will remain accessible to the public via the East Summit Track.

Timeline

Works are expected to last for about 6-8 weeks.
